Custom Mouthguards

Mouth guards refer to the covering on the teeth. At Monash Dental Group, we offer customised guards to perfectly fit our patients’ needs. In general, these are used to protect the teeth in your upper jaw, but may be needed to cover the teeth on the lower jaw, as well.
We offer individual design of the guards, to ensure a healthy oral cavity and an aesthetically pleasing smile.

Need for Custom Mouth Guards

There are several reasons why our dentists recommend custom mouth guards. Some of the factors include

  • Preventing injury to your teeth
  • Guarding against teeth grinding
  • Protecting against sports injury

Many people grind their teeth in their sleep. If you are one of them, do not hesitate to immediately contact us.

We will thoroughly examine your teeth condition and recommend a suitable mouth guard to offer you adequate protection. This kind of guard is known as the nocturnal bite splint or bite plate to prevent dental injuries. When it comes to this kind of protective covering for your teeth, there is no restriction of age.

We recommend a nocturnal bite splint both to adults and children.

Whether you are participating in contact sports such as soccer, basketball, field hockey, or boxing, or non-contact sports like gymnastics, you can immensely benefit from our superior mouth guards techniques.

Even those who indulge in recreational sports such as mountain biking and skateboarding can visit us to know more about teeth protection.

The Procedure:

Our dentists invest good length of time to thoroughly examine your oral health and challenges, before recommending a solution.

At Monash Dental Group, we try to understand what kind of physical and sports activities you indulge in, to help you with the use of a customised mouth guard.

Once we are certain you are the right candidate, we take your dental impression on a mold to design a custom fit mouth guard. We use superior material for preparing the mouth guard, which ensures durability and strong protection in the long-term.

The mouth guards that we offer are

  • Comfortable
  • Simple to clean
  • Durable
  • Resist tears
  • Don’t impede speech or breathing

Caring for Your Mouth Guard

At Monash Dental Group, we guarantee to offer superior quality mouth guards.

However, it is up to you to take good care of the dental plate to ensure longevity.

After each use, properly clean it with toothpaste and toothbrush, and rinse it using cold water. Occasionally, use soapy water for cleaning. When storing or during transport keep the guard inside its protective container, that we provide.

Also, you should protect it at all times from high temperatures including direct sunlight, hot water, and hard surfaces. Finally, never forget to bring your dental guard with you every time you come to visit us.
